The only way not to be deceived by satan is to know the truth.

Indeed, when we know the truth, that's when we have something to compare with what is proposed to us, or what we hear, or what we read from various authors.

For example, if someone comes to you and tells you that you need deliverance even though you've been born again and didn't know the truth about it, then you'll have nothing to compare, or rather to contrast with what you've been told. There is then a good chance that you will believe what you are told, especially if it is cleverly explained to you.

That's why once you know the truth, it becomes impossible for anyone to deceive you.

That's why it's so important to know who we are and what our potential is in Jesus Christ.

We sometimes hear everything and anything about certain areas in the Bible, such as deliverance, which is why we need to know the truth, as this will help us to detect any errors we may hear here and there. This is why we must continue to grow by interpreting good teachings in the Bible.

When you are born again your past is dead. The Bible says that our old nature is dead and buried with Christ.

Colossians 3:3 (NLT) For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.

Galatians 2:20 (NLT) My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

It is therefore impossible for any generational block to exist in relation to your past, unless it is you who are causing this block through ignorance of the truth. Every person born again is now free, that's a fact.

satan will try to make you believe otherwise by suggesting thoughts that tell you that your past is still active in your life, but this is a lie. satan needs you to ruin your life. This is why his aim is to make you believe lies so that you can act on those same lies.

Our old nature is certainly dead, but we must also realise that we still see it acting sometimes, and in a more or less pronounced way depending on the person.

This is where the vast majority of Christians no longer understand!

They read that their old person has died in Christ, that their past is dead, but on the other hand they still see the effects of that old nature surfacing in many situations. But they also notice flashes of their past, or even attitudes linked to their past surfacing in their thoughts.

As a result, they no longer really believe that they have really died in Christ, because their five senses and certain false thoughts regularly show them otherwise.

An infernal and demonic circle is then set in motion, leading them to believe that their former self and their past have not really died with Christ.

Faced with multiple evidences from their five senses, these Christians then say to themselves that these words from the Bible saying that their old nature is dead are not really words on which we can rely.

Added to this are the ridiculous phrases that everyone has more or less heard, such as: “It's my old man who's coming back!”

When Paul talks about this old man, corresponding to our old nature and our past, he says this:

Romans 6:6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.

Ephesians 4:22  that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,

If this old man is crucified, then he is dead, otherwise Paul would be lying!

But then he talks about stripping himself of it.

Is Paul contradicting himself?

Not at all!

Like everything else God has given us, it is our responsibility to make it tangible in this world by activating our faith. To put it plainly, if God says that our old nature has died in Jesus Christ, well, it's only if I firmly believe it without doubting, and if I act on that certainty that I'll be able to see it fulfilled in my life. This applies to everything I perceive about God.

Without this action of faith on my part, I will see absolutely nothing.

So we can see that the majority of Christians we spoke of earlier, who obviously have not understood this principle, start from the false idea that their old nature is still alive and active, and their past with it. They then think that the flesh remains in its state and does not change.

Paul also talks about some of the things that could eventually try to make us lose our relationship with God.

Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,  nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Here Paul lists some things, or people, that if we are not careful could hinder our relationship with God. Moreover, he is in full assurance that nothing in this list has the power, or the potential, to affect our relationship with God. None of these things or people have any power over us unless we give it to them.

But one very interesting fact is that neither our past nor our old nature or our old man is mentioned in this list. If our past or our old nature were still alive, then chances are Paul would have included them in this list. But there is no sign of our past or our old nature in this passage.

This is simply because not only my past, but also my old nature, are both dead and buried. But they only have as much power as I'm willing to give them in my thoughts.

The image is the same as when a person has the following experience:

Most of us have had the experience, especially when we were children, of swimming towards the shore thinking we had no foothold.

We're so sure we're going to sink if we stop swimming that we keep going despite the fatigue, anxiety and sometimes fear. But the reality is that you have a foothold. We may think the opposite, but that doesn't change the reality.

If you ask this person why they didn't just walk in the water, they'll say, "It's because I couldn't, because I didn't have any foothold".

They're convinced of this until they go and check. Yet what they think isn't reality, and what they think in this case doesn't change the truth either, but what they think does change their attitude and their perception of their life in this situation.

In this case, our attitude is exactly the same as if we were swimming in deep water, we react in exactly the same way. Many born-again people believe demonic nonsense, saying that we still have family, ancestral or generational ties, that we are possessed, demonised, that our past haunts us, or who knows what else. But have we ever read in the Bible of people born again having family ties or any other nonsense? Have we ever seen born-again people possessed?

satan tries to make Christians who don't know the truth believe all kinds of stupid things.

I've seen Christians so convinced that they were possessed that they were rolling on the floor screaming. Others would crawl on the ground like a snake.

But after explaining the truth to them, and without even praying, they understood that they were simply the victims of a deception, and all these manifestations stopped instantly.

The same applies to diseases.

Jesus accomplished everything at the cross, there's nothing to add to that except our active faith to see it fulfilled.

Furthermore, it is said in John 8:36 "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed".

Everyone who is born again is set free, that's a fact. So would Jesus have lied?

Are we not really free, thinking we need deliverance?

At least that's not what the Bible teaches.

Do not underestimate the power of the salvation that God has given us in Jesus, nothing surpasses the power of this salvation, especially not our past, nor any demonic spirit, nor any generational bond.

The only tactic that works for victory is to make your enemy believe that he is weak and that he will never be able to win. This is the tactic satan uses with Christians who think they need deliverance.

So don't let yourself be deceived any longer.

There is no problem of ancestral ties in your life. You simply need to understand what God has done with you. When you deeply understand that your old self is dead, then you will begin to realise who you are in Jesus. You will realise that the source of your identity, which is who you are today, is not part of this tangible world. You will then realise that the source of who you are is in the kingdom of God. This means that your vision of things, the priorities you set for yourself in your own life, are no longer limited to this world or to your everyday life.

You will direct your priorities according to the person you have become. Because you are a son (daughter) of God, you will have understood that God loves you unconditionally. He loves you for who you are, not for what you do or what you don't do. You will realise that there is nothing you can do to make God love you more, or love you less, because He has already given you the totality of His love. Even if He sometimes disagrees with some of your choices, His love is not affected.

It is therefore by realising all this, by seeing that someone like God, who is the creator of the universe, has decided to love you no matter what the circumstances, no matter what your words or reactions, that you will understand, accept and practise the fact that you are free of all ties.

This is why Jesus came to take away the sin of the world, He came to remove any spiritual effect of sin from your life because the value of your person was judged to be as important as His own life.

In order to redeem you, God paid a price according to your value. No one buys something that is overvalued, no one knowingly buys something that is more expensive than it is worth. The fact that Jesus came to give His own life shows you that your person is at least as valuable as Jesus' life. If God had to give His own life in Jesus, then your person is at least as valuable as His.

One of the effects that will show you that you are beginning to realise all this, that you are beginning to realise the value of your person, is that you will sin less and less. A person who smokes or drinks, for example, or any other addiction, will stop smoking or drinking without any effort, simply because they have understood and realised the value of themselves. But without this awareness nothing will happen. You will have understood that your value is equal to the life of Jesus, and so you will take care of yourself. You will take care of yourself because you will have understood that you have great value and that you wish to adopt the attitudes of life of your kingdom, and not certain habits of this world that make you feel you cannot do without certain things. This is how you will sin less and less.

The whole solution lies in focusing on God's love for you and the value you have, and the rest will take care of itself.

Paul had this to say to Timothy about generational ties:

1 Timothy 1:4 nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith.

So the problem is not new, but it's important to know what the Bible says on the subject, so that we don't fall into demonic deceptions.

All generational or spiritual ties disappeared when we were born again.

Far too many people trade in this deception, offering deliverances that sometimes cost money. Others who have been deceived themselves offer deliverance sessions which, when they work (on the surface), are merely a realisation that the person has already been delivered. They have simply activated their faith, telling them that they are free of all generational ties. In no case has such a person received deliverance, but simply had an awareness, which is not at all the same thing.

The image is exactly like an animal born in captivity. One day someone opens the door of its cage. From the moment the door is opened, the animal is free, that's a fact. But to regain its freedom, the animal has to take a step outside. Some animals can stay for weeks with their cage doors open. They are free, but are still convinced that they are in captivity. Well, it's the same with some badly taught Christians, they are free since their new birth, but act as if they are still in captivity.

If you recognise yourself in this, know that you are a free person since your new birth and that no generational ties can affect you. Decide to believe this, whatever the situation. Decide to stand firm and not let yourself be intimidated by demonic thoughts, so that you will live in full freedom in Jesus.
